A country riddled with confusion, despair, and all flickers of hope crushed at the merciless hands of corrupted government officials. Welcome to the remains of New York City in the year 2053. Although it seems that each day brings the faint hope that the conclusion of the war will soon arrive, it has been seventeen long years since the United States split into dozens of fragmented shards of clashing city-states. Wars of greed and attempts at unity are frequent amongst the cities, technology merely being a puzzle piece in the increasingly large amount of casualties accounted for these scrimmages. New York City alone was the largest standing piece of the once great United States, the city itself having peaked at its best years prior before falling into the disastrous state it now lies in. Underground militias are frequent in the now destroyed city, each holding the chance of rebuilding New York into the once great pinnacle of technology it had been. However because of these renegades, established City-States now work vigilantly in order to take control of the undisputed land of New York in order to prevent these Militias from rising to power.
==Notable Locations==
The city, although now practically abandoned, is still faintly the once great pinnacle it had been. Sky scrapers pierce the heavens with their metal, though the archeticture long having been destroyed, windows crushed, and support pillars crumbled. There remain no particularly notable locations, as the majority of the once great buildings have long since fallen.

Underground Factions
Poorly organized and conflicting factions consisting of volunteer militias create the Factions that fight to bring the iniquitious City-State governments to their knees and to restore the once great nation. These militias are formed by the able-bodied survivors, however their numbers are dwindling. As of recent, these factions have had to switch completely to defense ever since the Mercenary Corporations have been hired to exterminate the last of them. They move through the underground tunnels and remains of the subway, hoping to save every last life they can.
The City-States As greed gripped at the hands of the government, the nation shattered into an array of City-States fighting to take control. Their promise of unity is spawned soley from greed as they fight to subdue the other City-States and to hold supreme authority. These City-States exist in the remnants of existing Cities, however they now fight for control over the disputed New York City Territory.
Mercenary Corporations As the numbers of the human population dwindle in the City-States, the capability to continue brutal wars becomes less plausible. Because of this, powerful Corporations have sprouted and have developed programs to create the perfect soldier for war. Most wars between the City-States are waged by these hired soldiers, resulting in the Mercenary Corporations to hold a greater influence over the politics of each faction. Few Corporations have even expanded into physical alterations of humans in order to create more adept soliders. Notable Mercenary groups include ACES and Vouix.
