The Combat Asessment and Data Services Committee, more commonly referred to as the C.A.D.S. Committee (pronounces Kayds), is a non-player Organization in Archaic Twilight that does not actively participate with the other three warring groups. In fact, C.A.D.S. has taken on an 'overseer' form of power over the Remnant Grid. The Committee has acquired such immense loads of information and resources that it has, in a sense, superceded humanity and has ascended to a higher level of existence. Though powerful, the committee does not interfere with the workings of the Grid and no members make any direct appearances in the story whatsoever.

Role In the Story[]

In the story, the C.A.D.S Committee is a near-deity level group that holds supreme power of the Grid. Despite this high level of power, the members themselves are only humans that have control over an immense wealth of knowledge. The Committee, knowing of this power, has essentially chosen to conceal itself behind the curtains of the Grid, only pulling a few strings when they see it fit. The level of secrecy within the group is to the point that none of the members know of the others or even the leader (or creator for that matter).

Though the Committee makes it a point not to not intervene in the issues of the Grid, they are known for a few major contributions:

  • The Rank Advancement Program - A prominent event that takes place every six months. This Event is typically sponsored by a chosen Organization and is held in order for C.A.D.S. to keep a current record of all civilians and potential threats to the Grid.
  • The Organization Handbook - One of the most referred to texts in the Grid, this handbook is a loose guideline the Committee established for the warring Organizations in order to maintain a certain degree of peace in the Grid.
  • The Battle Rulebook - A tome of a book that details the proper procedures and etiquette when two people confront each other in a battle. This was published in the early beginnings of the Organization and is not frequently abided anymore, though certain rules are still followed.

Past these few exceptions, the Committee essentially remains quiet.

Role On the Forum (Out of Character)[]

Out of Character, C.A.D.S act as a Committee of Judges that are referred to in times of dispute amongst the members. Most commonly the group is used when Organization Leaders accuse the other one of executing an illegal act. However the group may also be called to be the Judge of an overpowered Character or to settle a Battle Rule dispute.

  • Much like the Committee's job in the story, the members are anonymous and do not know of the other members. Furthermore, the members of the forum do not know who is apart of the Committee.
  • A Committee is given a certain term as a Member, a time during which they must remain silent about their membership to the group. Once their term has expired, he/she may discuss being a member of the group.
  • The terms of each member varies depending on their seat within the group. Typically Battle Judges remain for longer than Organization Dispute Judges.
