Legends, the mythological stories created by our ancestors that were either based on fact or fiction, several legends and myths loom about the world I reside however I never once expected to become a living rendition of those legends. I am Cascadia Aoyama, an orphaned child from the mystical world of Neurabia; or rather to be more precise I was the chosen child of Neurabia. My story dates back over one thousand years prior to my birth, during a time full of anguish and hatred towards the world.
Over a century ago our world was threatened by a looming darkness that desired nothing more than to envelope this world and its people within the depths of despair. This darkness was formidable; its presence was so great that the simple sight of it weighed heavily upon the minds of the people. Eventually the threat this impending darkness posed became too great to be ignored any longer and in response to its continual threat the god’s of our world had sent one of their own down to the mortal plains. At the time the appearance of this saviour was greatly welcomed, however, several years had passed and the saviour sent to our plain of existence had yet to provide the salvation of the world in which they were sent to accomplish.
This saviour was none other than the great goddess Availion, the heir to the royal throne of the god’s. Compared to the other sentient beings that resided above her she was nothing more than a mere child as far as the God’s were concerned at least and all though she tried tirelessly she was unable to complete the task she was sent to accomplish. In the end Availion was a failure, much to the dismay of the god’s. To this day the understanding of what occurred that fateful night has yet to become known; all that was really known was that in her failure she released tears of pure hope before her physical body was destroyed.
Quite the tangent to get upon however there is a point; from that time a story was formed, a story that spoke highly of the goddess Availion despite her futile efforts. That story was told for numerous generations until finally it had become a legend to the present day. The legendary story of the goddess Availion was soon presented with a twist as new evidence appeared; a stone tablet found upon the holy grounds of the god’s, mount Cere. Upon this tablet was a premonition, a rumor of the god’s if you will, that a child shall be born of the god’s who will house the spirit of wind, and thus my story begins.
I was not aware of this fact until later on in my life however I was the child born by the hands of the god’s to house the spirit of wind. My life started as an infant, much like all other children however I had no fraternal parents. As an infant I was found in a lush field of flowers upon the holy mountain of the god’s by an elderly man by the name Aomori Kentatsu. He was the first to discover me, an emotionless infant with no parents, abandoned within a lush field; it was from that day forward my life began to take its true form.
Within the care of elder Kentatsu I was enrolled in to the Kentatsu Academy, a mercenary training school where I learned the basics of combat. For several years I underwent severe training, challenging both my mind and my body, however, unlike the rest of the students I was unable to display any sort of emotion. My life was empty, void of emotion, filled with nothing more than physical exertion and educational values.
From an early age I displayed many talents, from the art of weaponry to scholarly in my studies; however I was unique in the fact that I was able to control the elements to a greater extent than that of an average Neurabian. As time passed my skills were quickly honed and sharpened to the point of perfection, however despite my effort, my emotionless nature remained and saddened those around me. By the time I reached the age of fourteen I had graduated from the academy and was a full licensed mercenary. However my life was still as empty as the sense of happiness was within our crumbled world; I had no purpose, no goals or ambitions I was nothing more than a cleverly placed living mannequin. I remained in this state for yet another two years; upon the eve of my sixteenth birthday was when my world changed forever.
Hired for a job to apprehend the caravan of a wanted syndicate of thieves I effortlessly went about my mission as planned. However, this mission was not like the rest for it was the place where I met the man who would change my life forever; this was where I first met Xavier. He was an awkward man, clumsy and most definitely lacked talent however he was the first person who had ever been able to defeat me in combat.
From that day forward my life gradually grew a purpose, all though I was not yet aware of it. The day I met Xavier was a day I will never forget for the time I spent with him after that was nothing short of dangerous, in more ways than met the proverbial eye. Xavier was a chosen child, sent to Neurabia from a planet called earth. Happy, go lucky, they were all but a few words that could describe him, however in my case I found him more annoying at first.
During the few short months in which Xavier spent with us at the academy I had come to learn a lot; for instance, humans are nothing short of reckless and immature. However despite this fact I found myself constantly watching him. It was no more than a week after Xavier began he stay that I was told the reason for my existence; I was born at the hands of the god’s to be the vessel to the spirit of wind, translation, I was the catalyst for the soul of the once great goddess Availion.
Eventually as time passed the soul of Availion awakened within my spirit, with the help of Xavier of course and soon after the three of us were inseparable, two of us more than the other. Gradually over time I had come to learn that my reason for living was more than to be a vessel for Availion, in fact mine and Xavier’s lives were destined to intertwine from our birth. Xavier had been sent to awaken me, the child of prophecy as well as to be the saviour of our world.
As time progressed, the three of us began a long and perilous journey around the world, gathering elemental orbs that allowed Xavier to wield the elements. We fought many formidable opponents and learned a great deal about ourselves; however I believe I was the one who learned the most about myself. Nearly a year after I met Xavier I began to show emotion, I laughed, I cried and I even smiled believe it or not. However such happiness didn’t last long; our journey had come to its conclusion, the final battle between us and the man wielding the looming darkness that threatened our world.
The battle was long and fought with great effort from both sides; however we were unsuccessful in our attempt. We lost, plain and simple, but more over I lost something more precious to me than the world itself; the one man I ever truly loved. During that final battle Xavier lost his life and Availion was once again sealed within me, everything seemed lost to me, my love, my life, my world, all vanished within those few minutes. To spare my life from the destruction Xavier used the last of his powers so send me across dimensions using the element of space he had recently learned to control.
It all appeared as a dream, a wild and vivid dream; however that was when I awoke here, upon the world known as the remnant grid. I lost everything that day, but more than that I forever lost my ability to show emotion. The only thing that keeps me going is my goal to find a way back to Neurabia where I can set my world in order and accomplish the peace Xavier desired so much before he died. It’s not much of a story but it is my reason for existence and someday soon I shall accomplish that goal.
